Trinity Industries
Rail logistics is notoriously complex. Many customer workflows were still tied to analog systems and manual processes, creating blind spots and inefficiencies. We started this engagement with Quasar Platform Inc. from Cando Rail & Terminals Ltd. in 2018. They needed our help translating complex processes, and vast data sets into their vision of a cloud-based platform that helps shippers monitor every railcar across North America, from origin to destination, giving them the visibility and control they need to move smarter.
The Challenge
The product offering combines live GPS tracking with powerful data and analytics to optimize supply chain performance. The challenge was to design a digital platform that made these workflows simple and intuitive, while still handling large datasets in real time.
Converting Complexity into Clarity
Since 2018, we have partnered closely with the Trinity in-house engineering and product team to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable design solutions. From yard management modules to real-time railcar switches, every feature begins with understanding the customer’s process and gets shaped into intuitive workflows that guide development.

Visualizing the Data that Drives Decisions
One of the biggest goals is to help users make sense of immense streams of data. We design fresh UX and visualization tools that allow customers to drill into railcar sensor data, explore historical performance, and take action in the moment.

The Impact
This work spans multiple phases, acquisitions, and brand evolutions all grounded in a consistent product vision and a deep understanding of rail logistics. What began as a Calgary-based startup collaboration has grown into an enterprise-scale platform used across North America.

Project Timeline
February 2018 – Laying the Foundation
Our engagement began with Quasar, a Calgary-based company building a cloud-based rail logistics platform. We supported both product and marketing design, along with product leadership, helping translate highly complex rail workflows and large datasets into a clear, usable SaaS experience. This phase established the UX foundations, design systems, and customer-centered approach that still underpin the platform today.
2018–2021 – Scaling the Product Vision
As the platform matured, we partnered closely with Quasar’s in-house product and engineering teams to design and refine core functionality from yard management to real-time railcar tracking. Our work focused on making mission-critical workflows intuitive while supporting real-time data at scale.
2022 – Acquisition and Rebrand to Trinsight®
Following Trinity Industries’ acquisition of Quasar, the platform was rebranded as Trinsight®. We led the rebrand and UX evolution, ensuring continuity for existing users while aligning the product with Trinity’s broader enterprise ecosystem. The goal was to elevate the platform without disrupting the workflows customers relied on.
2023 – RSI Logistics Acquisition
Trinity acquired RSI Logistics, creating the opportunity to unify products, brands, and user experiences. We supported this transition by helping define how Trinsight would evolve within the RSI portfolio.
2023–Present – Transition to RSI Platform
Since the acquisition, we have led the ongoing rebrand of Trinsight to RSI, carefully managing visual identity, UX consistency, and product evolution. This phase focuses on long-term scalability, enterprise alignment, and ensuring users continue to receive clear, actionable insights throughout the transition.
